True Value Stores Go Mobile

By Rich Campbell

In the next chapter of the True Value Company's DotNetNuke (DNN) success story, all stores on their TruSite platform now have mobile sites. With the introduction of mobile device detection in the DNN 6.1 release and with the explosion of the mobile web, the time was right for True Value to offer a mobile solution to its members. Engage was happy to take that solution from timely idea to tangible reality.

Chapter 1: Build it and they will come

Since deploying the new TruSite platform (built on DNN) in 2010, True Value has experienced a great level of participation and adoption amongst its members. More information about the initial effort can be read in the blog post A New Tool for True Value Stores.

Chapter 2: They're coming, now scale it

With such rapid growth, the platform quickly outgrew its Community-edition roots, reaching over 1,000 active stores in less that a year. By upgrading the platform to DotNetNuke Professional Edition and leveraging the professional page caching features, True Value was able to more than triple the number of live sites to over 3,000 active stores. Now that's scalability! Read the press release from DotNetNuke Corp. about this success. (Note: from the date this release was written to the date it was published, True Value eclipsed 3,000 sites)

Chapter 3: Hey, it's 2012, where's my mobile site?

Since all 3,000+ member store sites are on a common platform (DNN), enabling a mobile device experience was seamless for retailers. All content is now optimized for the small screen device, leaving some functionality to the native device to handle, such as email and maps. Store owners are thrilled with their new mobile sites and Engage is excited to be part of this on-going success as we continue leveraging True Value's technology investment in DotNetNuke.

We look forward to future successes with True Value and DotNetNuke. Stay tuned for the next chapter...
