If you're DotNetNuke portal isn't sending emails as you would expect you likely haven't configured your SMTP settings properly.
To configure your SMTP settings try the following.
- Login as a SuperUser (usually Host)
- In the Menu go to the Host/Host Settings page
- On the page go to Advanced Settings
- SMTP Server Settings
- Configure with the SMTP settings provided by your hosting environment or system administrator
